What this measures: the path from you to Leaseweb's test server in LAX-12. It does not test a VPS and promises nothing about one. The files are plain HTTP, so your browser may warn on the download.

About this location

Downtown Los Angeles, facing the Pacific

Your server sits downtown, at 1200 W 7th St, in the building Leaseweb calls LAX-12. By Leaseweb's count it has 4 carriers and 1 Internet Exchange available, and it carries a Tier III listing. Note the address, because downtown's major carrier hotel is somewhere else: One Wilshire, at 624 S. Grand Ave. Your server is not in that building.

What makes downtown LA a network location

CoreSite calls One Wilshire one of the most interconnected buildings in the world, hosting more than 300 networks (release of 14 August 2025). It says multiple subsea cables terminate there, and it lists the Any2Exchange and BBIX peering exchanges at the site. CoreSite's Any2West exchange, which covers Los Angeles and Silicon Valley, had 263 networks in PeeringDB on 5 November 2026. Equinix Los Angeles had 82.

Cables on the coast

TeleGeography listed 8 in-service systems at Los Angeles area landing points on 5 November 2026:

Their routes reach Japan, the Philippines, Taiwan, Indonesia, Guam, Australia, New Zealand, Chile and Panama.

West Coast users, and some beyond

The natural audience is the US West Coast and Southwest, plus Mexico. This is also the Pacific-facing option for North American sites with some users in Asia-Pacific or Latin America.

City facts describe the place, not this service, and we claim no connection to any exchange or cable named here. Figures with no date were read in November 2026. Sources: CoreSite release, CoreSite One Wilshire, PeeringDB, TeleGeography, Leaseweb.

Questions

Before you choose Los Angeles

Is Los Angeles a good choice for Asia-Pacific users?

For a North American site with some users across the Pacific, yes. If most users are in Southeast Asia, Singapore is the better choice. We publish no latency figures, so ping each page's test IP from a connection near those users and compare.

Is my server inside One Wilshire?

No. LAX-12 is at 1200 W 7th St and One Wilshire is at 624 S. Grand Ave. We describe One Wilshire because it shapes downtown as a network location, not because this service has a presence there.

Why do the Los Angeles links on Leaseweb's speed test page fail?

On 5 November 2026 the file links for LAX-12 on that page pointed to speedtest.lax11.us.leaseweb.net, a name that does not resolve. The table on the same page shows speedtest.lax12.us.leaseweb.net, which works, and that is the host we use here.

Does this location suit users in Latin America?

Mexico is part of its natural audience. Further south it depends on the country. Cables from the Los Angeles area reach Chile and Panama. For Brazil, compare Washington, since the BRUSA cable lands at Virginia Beach. Measure from those countries before you order.
