Manassas, in Northern Virginia
Manassas is the real address: WDC-02 stands at 11680 Hayden Rd, and Leaseweb lists it as Tier III. The town is inside the Northern Virginia data center market, so "Washington area" describes this location better than "Washington".
The largest data center market in the world
That is how Virginia's Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission (JLARC) described Northern Virginia in its report of 9 December 2024, using Cushman & Wakefield 2024 data. It gave the market 13 percent of reported global operational capacity and 25 percent of capacity in the Americas, and said it is more than twice the size of the next largest, Beijing. Its definition covers Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William counties and Manassas. Those three counties hold 80 percent of Virginia's data center industry, with Loudoun alone about half.

| Ashburn, Reston, Manassas | LINX NoVA: 57 networks in PeeringDB on the same date |

When to pick it
- Your users are on the US East Coast, in the Midwest or in eastern Canada.
- Your audience is split between North America and Europe. Transatlantic cables land at Virginia Beach.
- You have some users in South America. The BRUSA cable to Brazil lands at Virginia Beach, but that does not tell you how your traffic will travel, so measure first.
- Your application needs to sit near other services hosted in Northern Virginia.
City facts describe the place, not this service, and we claim no connection to any exchange or cable named here. Figures with no date were read in November 2026. Sources: JLARC report, PeeringDB, TeleGeography, Leaseweb.

Before you choose Washington
Is this Washington, D.C. or Washington state?
Neither. The server is in Manassas, Virginia, in the Washington, D.C. area. If your users are in Washington state, this location is on the other side of the country. The San Francisco location, in San Jose, is the one close to the Pacific Northwest.
Which US location should I pick?
Choose the side of the country your users are on. This location covers the East Coast, the Midwest and eastern Canada. San Francisco suits Northern California and the Northwest, and Los Angeles the Southwest and Mexico. The location guide covers users in several regions.
What if my users are split between the US and Europe?
This is a good North American location for that split. On the European side, compare London. Test from both continents, then put the server on the side with more users.
Can I run close to other services in Northern Virginia?
That is a fair reason to pick this location. Being in the same region does not tell you the network path, though. If you already have a machine near that service, ping this page's test IP from it before you order.
