What every plan includes

Virtual 10 Gbps port

10 Gbps is the ceiling for your server's network speed. It is not a promise of throughput. What a 10 Gbps port means.

Outbound traffic

30 TB of outbound traffic a month in every location.

Local NVMe SSD storage

The disk is on the host that runs your server. Leaseweb's knowledge base notes that local storage carries a recovery time if the host fails.

1 IPv4 with DDoS protection

Each server has one IPv4 address, with standard DDoS IP protection. That is not a guarantee against every attack.

1 snapshot

Every plan includes one snapshot of your server. A snapshot is not a backup, so keep your own copies of anything you can't lose.

KVM with full root access

Your server is a full virtual machine with its own kernel, and the root account is yours.

What KVM means

KVM stands for Kernel-based Virtual Machine. It is a hypervisor built into the Linux kernel, and Leaseweb's VPS platform is built on it. Each server is a full virtual machine with its own virtual hardware, such as a network card and a disk, and it runs its own unmodified kernel.

Containers work differently. OpenVZ and LXC containers share the host's kernel, so they run Linux only. A KVM server has its own kernel, which is why FreeBSD can be on the image list below.

The physical host is still shared with other virtual servers, so your vCPU and RAM are not dedicated hardware.

What full root access gives you

You get the root account on your server. You can install packages, change kernel settings and load kernel modules. The server is also yours to look after, including updates, user accounts and security settings.

Changing plan

You can move up to a larger plan later. You can't move down to a smaller one. Leaseweb's knowledge base says reducing disk volume is not technically possible, so if you need less, order a smaller server.
